Kirsten's Letter
My thanks and appreciation to Kirsten Grant who
gave me permission to write a tut inspired
by a letter she created.
Supplies
PSP (Written in PSP 9)
A tube (Mine Here)
Plaid Lite Filter (Here)
Filter Attacks (Here)
Letter Creator
Open you tube in PSP. Activate the Bottom layer.
Right click on the title bar - Copy
Right click on your workspace - Paste As A New Image.
Windows- Duplicate
Close the original for later use.
Minimize one of the tubes.
With the remaining tube, Effects - Image Effects -
Seamless tiling use the default settings by clicking on the curved arrow.
Layers - Merge - Merge All (flatten)
Effects - Plugins - namesuppressed - plaid lite
Experiment with the pattern number to find a pattern you like
I used #74. Click OK
Find the pattern in your foreground materials box.
Set the angel at 45% and the size to 100.
Open a new transparent background image 1024 X 768
or the size you use for your letters.
Flood fill this background image with the plaid pattern.
Layers - New Raster Layer
With you selection tool, click on Custom Selections
and use these settings.
Top 75
Left 75
Right 1024
Bottom 693
Flood will this selection with the color of your choice
I used #58b40f
DO NOT DESELECT
Layers - New Raster Layer
Selections - Modify - Contract by 50
Flood fill this will a coordinating or contrasting color
of your choice. I used #e8d9be.
Effects - Plug Ins- Filter Attacks- Choose the 2nd one
and use these settings.

Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
I used the default settings.
Selections - Select None
Restore your minimized tube.
Resize so that it is no wider than 350 pixels.
Click on the title bar of the tube - copy
Click on the title bar of your background - Paste-
As a New Layer.
Effects - 3D Effects- Drop Shadow
Again I used the default Settings.
Layers - New Raster Layer
Apply your mark.
Layers -Merge - Merge All ( flatten)
Export using the JPEG Optimizer.
Save
In Letter Creator, I did not tile my background
so the text will scroll. Use the method you prefer.
It is hard to tile plaid bgs.
My top margin is at 150. My left margin is at 355.
My right margin is at 10.
