Using the Warp Brush
We are going to use the warp brush to
make a candle flicker. This brush is
also very easy to use to make water
move and to make things look as if
they are blowing in the wind.
Let's start easy and work up.
Written in PSP 8 but will work in other versions.
Using Animation Shop
Choose a graphic with a candle
or find the one I used here.
This image was shared with me.
I have no idea who the artist is. There
is no intended infringement on copywrite.
Make a duplicate the graphic
and close the original.
Layers - New Raster Layer
Place your mark on the graphic. Layers - Merge - Merge All (flatten)
Duplicate the graphic
Save one of them to a folder in preparation for animation shop.
You can save it as a .jpg.
(I have a folder on my C drive that I call animations.
I save all my animations projects there until I am ready to
open Animation Shop.
When you no longer need to graphics you can
delete them without causing damage.)
Find your Warp brush on your tool bar.
It may be under another tool. If it isn't there
right click on your tool bar, choose customize-
toolbars- and scroll down to the warp brush.
Click on it and drag it up to your tool bar.
I hope you will use it to do lots of other
animations.
With the remaining graphic active,
click on your warp tool and apply these settings:

Then make a "long" click on the flame of each candle.
By long I mean do not just click briefly. Hold it
for a second or two but not too long!!!
Save this graphic to your animation folder.
Open Animation Shop.
Using the Animation Wizard:
Check Same size as the first image frame
next
Check Opaque and choose your background
color by right clicking on the color box.
next
Check Upper Left Corner
Check With Canvas Color
Next
Check Yes, repeat the animation indefinitely
Choose the speed you want. I used 30
Next
Click on Add Image
Browse to your Animation Folder
click on the 2nd graphic name first,
then while holding down on your shift
key, click on the first graphic name
Click OPEN
Next
Finish
Both frames will appear in your workspace.
In the tool bar, click on View Animation

If you are happy with the animation, save it to
your folder in preparation for making the Letter
in Letter Creator.
Click next on each of the following screens
until it is finished. You can now close AS.
Go back to PSP and create your background.
Export as a .JPEG file and save to the folder
where you animation is.
Open Letter Creator and Create your Flickering
Candle IncrediLetter.
To Make Water Move.
With your warp brush, click near the edge
of your water along the side in moe than one place.
You might want to use the expand control instead
of the twirl control. Play with this brush and see
what you can create. Don't be afraid. You can
always Undo or Delete. Just have fun.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
Any resemblance to another tutorial is
purely coincidental. It is a result of my own playing in PSP 8.
